I know that I post a lot of dessert recipes on this here blog but really, one of my favorite things to make is a good green juice!  The bright green color of the drink is beautiful and it’s amazing how good I feel after drinking it.  There is something to be said about nature taking care of you if you let it.

A couple of years ago I was consumed with Juice Madness.  Eventually I ended up buying myself a masticating juicer.  A masticating juicer actually crushes the produce. By crushing it, there is no heat created in the fruits or vegetables and therefore, they maintain the maximum amount of nutrients.  This thing is one the best purchases I have ever made!  I can really tell the difference in the taste and the way that I feel after drinking my greens.

Here is the recipe for my go to green juice: (you can use a standard juicer or a masticating juicer)

Notes: I place everything into the juicer in this order. It helps in cleaning to push the harder objects through last.  Cleaning the juicer after you’re done is probably one of the biggest reasons why people stop juicing – it’s a pain in the butt!

5 small handfuls of organic spinach
1/2 organic cucumber
4 leaves of organic kale
2 stalks of organic celery
1 organic Granny Smith apple
3 organic carrots

Place into the juicer in order of list.  Pour into glass.  Drink it up!

My dog literally starts drooling when he hears the juicer fire up because I feed him the leftover carrot pulp - he goes crazy for it!

Note:  This recipe is my base.  You can add so many other things to it or change the measurements as desired.  A lot of people will add lemon and/or ginger which is really good!  Do what you feel….  The world is your oyster greens!
